Pyramids of Giza

Like I mentioned earlier in my previous post that the Great Pyramid of Giza is nearly 4500 years old and it is possibly the largest man made structure known to man. The Pyramids were built to preserve the bodies of the pharaohs. The pharaohs were Egyptian Kings whose bodies were mummified after death.
The background of mummifying a body was that the Egyptians thought that they would live an eternal life if they mummified their bodies. They thought that the same bodies would be used in the life here after so if they didn't preserve their bodies it would keep wandering here after.
The Great Pyramids of Giza remained the tallest known structure for nearly 3800 years ago and currently it is 30 times larger than the Empire state building. Its base covers an area of 13.6 acres. The primary material used in its construction is white limestone. The outer part of the Pyramids was covered with polished stone which added to the beauty of this structure but this outer covering was removed by the Arabs about 600 years ago.
The technology used in the making of the Pyramids is really a mystery. Till now scientists have not been able to figure out how these massive 20 ton stones were put together with such great accuracy. The modern technology still can't do it !
