The Blue Mountains Australia

January 22nd 2009 20:08

Blue Mountains is one of the top tourist attractions in Australia and is truly a magnificent place if you want to compare it with the rest of the places around the world. Blue Mountains are home to its own exotic atmosphere which is like no place on Earth. The area filled with its unique bluish feeling, high class national parks, natural habitat and mountainous areas is all worth looking at.

The Blue Mountains are situated very near to Sydney and one can easily reach this place from the city center by just going through a 50 km ride. The place offers such a detailed travel experience that it can give you all you need for a perfect vacation. There are simply so many places to visit. The National Parks which are total seven in number, the caves, the mountains, the bush walk etc ,every thing can make a complete holiday package.

Here I won't be acting like travel agent trying to convince you to visit this place, in fact all I want is, you to know the unique terrain and habitat this place hosts. The whole area looks mountainous, that is the one reason why it is called "Blue Mountains" but the truth is it is plateau region in which the slowly weathering rocks have taken shapes of mountains.

The second reason why this is area is called "Blue Mountains" is the fact that the whole area appears bluish when seen from some distance. The bluish mist will surely make you appreciate and think of spending all your life in this heaven. The bluish mist has a scientific reason and it is associated with the large density of eucalyptus trees found in the area.

The area is also a part of the 'World Heritage Sites' and includes the famous city of Katoomba. The city is one of the best tourist spot if you are to spend time visiting the whole area. 'The Three Sisters' can also be viewed from point very near to this city.

A famous story has been associated with the formation of The Three Sister but again this is just a story like many legends known in different mountainous regions. The formation of the Three Sisters also has some scientific background to it. It is also known that, as time passes this rock formation may eventually be destroyed!
