The Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower is one of the most renowned structures that mankind has every produced. No doubt it is one of the greatest engineering wonders which is a combination of both beauty and complexity. But this complexity is something that will make you stare at the structure for so long that you would want to unravel the history behind this amazing building.
Inaugurated on March 31, 1889,it took some two years for the completion of this massive structure of steel. Situated in the so called romantic city, Paris, the structure is one of the greatest tourist attraction in France and has uplifted its national pride ever since the building inaugurated.
Gustave Eiffel was the master mind behind this wonder. He was the architect who made this structure stand tall and created a revolution in the making of steel structures. There a are number of interesting facts related to the Eiffel Tower which I am sure a common man is quite in aware of.
The mass of the total Tower is 7300 tons and currently it is the fifth tallest structure in France. There are a number of scientific phenomenons associated with this Tower of which the expansion and contraction is one important thing to consider. Also the Tower was also used for communication purposes.
