The Rocky Mountains is mountain range situated in the Western side of North America. It extends from New Mexico to Northeastern British Columbia. It is also famous with the name Rockies. Like many other mountainous regions around the Earth, this region is also of some importance because of its unique beauty.
Rocky Mountains or simply Rockies extend to about 3220 km. It is not just a place of great geological importance rather it has many features that make it an ideal spot for the tourism. Many people flock to the place both in winters and summers to feel the extraordinary beauty of this place.
Not just ordinary tourist but extreme mountaineers and adventurist also see this place as of great importance. The Rockies are a part of the great continental divide that separates rivers draining into the Atlantic or Arctic oceans from those flowing toward the Pacific Ocean.
The Rocky Mountains is geologically divided into four main regions. Each is several different parks, basin etc. The terrain is also different in all these regions. The Rockies also has its own National Park like many other natural places around the world. This Park is open for tourists round the year.
The Rockies is not just home to animal habitat, but there is quite a lot of human population including many industries mainly concerned with mining. The area is rich with natural resources and the governments are well utilizing these sources.
In winters the area is becomes a much visited and famous ski resort, many ski resort run in the region and the terrain is perfect for having some skiing adventure in your winter vacations. So next time this place should be in you list to pay a visit to!
