The Smoky Mountains

Smoky Mountains are the famous mountains ranged in the United States, much famous for their unique beauty and landscape attracting many tourists to come and witness the heaven like atmosphere of this place. The Great Smoky Mountains range is actually a sub-range of the of the long Appalachian Mountains. The Smoky Mountains are often spelled as "Smokey Mountains" or even Smokies in short.
The natural habitat is really wonderful and has a wide diversity of animal and plant population. The area is a part of The UNESCO World Heritage Site because of which it is a place of prime importance for nature lovers and researchers. The area has a number of forests that takes a person into entirely different world allowing one to explore the plant kingdom in an atmosphere that no one would want to leave.
The area is much famous for its National Park called "The Great Smoky National Park". This park encapsulated much of the Smoky Ranges and is the most visited national park in the whole of United States. The area is of prime importance as scientists have regarded it as one of the world's Biosphere Reserve.
The Smoky Mountains are famous with this name due to the unique mist that constantly engulfs the region. The area contains lush green vegetation all of which is protected till now and the forests are quite ancient. Over 100 different species of trees are believed to exist in the National Park. These trees include; Eastern hemlock, red spruce, silver bell, yellow buckeye, mountain ash etc. The trees are really tall here and some are quite a lot of years old.
The area is famous for a hiking and some other sports. Skiing is famous during the winter and in summer river rafting is at its peak. It is really cool place to have bumpy ride through the water falls.
The National park has animal population typical to many of the public parks. The black bear is one such famous creature that often likes peaking into human camping.
